About SKUAST:
Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) was an Agricultural University in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It was developed in the year 1982 through an Act passed by the State Legislature. The University was named after Kashmiri pioneer Sheik Mohammad Abdullah who is unmistakably known as Sher-e-Kashmir (Lion of Kashmir) Initially, the school had ward over the entire State of Jammu and Kashmir with its headquarters at Shalimar, Srinagar. With the SKUAST Act in drive, the green guideline, examination and expansion get ready units were traded to SKUAST from diverse change divisions viz; Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry and Sericulture of Jammu and Kashmir State. In the year 1998-99, the local domain of the University was rethought by modifying the SKUAST Act 1982 under which an alternate cultivating University was set up for Jammu Division and named as Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) with its local region contacted the entire Jammu Division. The gatekeeper University was renamed as Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K).
