The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) was built up by Act 27 of 2005 of the Kerala State Legislature. By a similar Act, the National Institute for Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS) set up by the Bar Council of Kerala Trust in 2002 converged with the NUALS. In 2008, a revision streamlined the forces and elements of the powers of the University and guaranteed the dynamic inclusion of the Government of Kerala.The University is perceived by the University Grants Commission under segment 2(f) of the UGC Act.It is likewise an individual from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The primary objects of the University are: (a) to progress and spread learning and information of law and legitimate and legal procedures, proficient lawful training and their part in national advancement; (b) to create in the understudy and research researcher an awareness of other's expectations to serve the general public by creating aptitudes as to support, lawful administrations, enactment, law changes and so on., and (c) to advance lawful and legal changes expected to reinforce the organization of equity in India.
