The National Institute of Technology (some time back known as Regional Engineering College) Tiruchirappalli, sorted out in the heart of Tamil Nadu on the banks of stream Cauvery, was begun as a joint and co-administrators endeavor of the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu in 1964 with a perspective to obliging the prerequisites of work in headway for the nation. The school has been contemplated with freedom in real money related and authoritative matters to satisfy quick change. In light of this rich experience, this foundation was yielded Deemed University Status with the appreciation of the UGC/AICTE and Govt. of India in the year 2003 and renamed as National Institute of Technology. NIT-T was chosen under Societies Registration Act XXVII of 1975.
