About Madurai Kamaraj University:
Madurai Kamaraj University was introduced on 6 February 1966, taking into account the augmentation focal point of the University of Madras, situated at Madurai. In 1968 the establishment stone for another grounds was laid by Zakir Hussain, the President of India. The Directorate of Distance Education of the college was set up in 1971 . In 1978 the name of the college was changed to Madurai Kamaraj University to respect the K. Kamaraj, previous Chief Minister of Madras State.
