Dr.Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan, was set up on first December,1985 with the objective to propel direction, investigation and growth preparing in the fields of Horticulture, Forestry and brought together requests. Late Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar, the main Chief Minister and the modeler of Himachal Pradesh saw the centrality of Horticulture and Forestry to make and improve the State economy which incited the establishment of this University. Its history lies in late Himachal Agricultural College, Solan, set up in 1962 and banded together to the Panjab University. It transformed into one of the grounds of Agriculture Complex of Himachal Pradesh University on its game plan in 1970. Ensuing upon the establishment of Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya in 1978, this grounds transformed into its Horticulture Complex ultimately in 1985, acknowledged the status of a State University, being the principle University in the country attracted just in educating, examination and growth in Horticulture and Forestry.
